FEATURE REQUESTS: re: Documents [MacOS]

FEATURE REQUESTS:
- Ability to drag documents from a desktop folder into the document pane of LLM.
- When importing/exporting/loading from the (what I'm calling) get file window, allow multiple file selections (ctrl+) and/or let that folder stay selected, instead of going through the whole file system hierarchy again, just to add more documents from the same folder.

I'm currently getting the app set up for my needs (test driving it with two landlords and fifteen properties, before I dive completely in with our 200+ unit inventory).

Hi Heather,

Thank you for feature requests, they are always appreciated. As well you'll be happy to hear that all feature requests are recorded in our Idea Initiative Program which is continually reviewed. That being said please find my responses below:

1- Ability to drag documents from a desktop folder into the document pane of LLM.

Yes this is something we've looked but there are quite a few challenges with dragging and dropping. The main issue is that each time you add a file the software has to add some extra information and cannot just import the file. In other words each file requires some data entry which is not possible with a drag and drop. That being said it's something we've been looking at and are still trying to find a user friendly way to do this because again, remember that you're most likely going to have to also do some data entry with each file you import.

The other major issue is that the software has to do some processing with each file you import, which if done on just one file is fairly quick but if it's done on a large number of files could be quite significant. It does some checks to verify the file is valid, the type of file, etc. Along with this what happens if one file fails or has an error? If you say just continue where you left off next time what happens if the person drags the same files again without reading the error message. Basically you run into all kinds of little usability issues in addition to needing some manual data entry for each template.

That being said this is something we're continually looking at and always trying to find a way to include drag and drop. It's definitely higher in our priority list of features.

2- When importing/exporting/loading from the (what I'm calling) get file window, allow multiple file selections (ctrl+) and/or let that folder stay selected, instead of going through the whole file system hierarchy again, just to add more documents from the same folder.

See #1 for multiple imports. As for not remembering the last folder the software actually has to handoff the file browsing to your computer system. We do our best to try to remember the last folder you were in but in some cases the computer system doesn't give us the permission therefore it has to return to the computer system's default folder. We are trying our best in this regard but we're limited due to both technical and security reasons from the operating system.
