New versions/developments for the near future

It has been quit for a while regarding plans, new versions and stuff for LLmax.
Is there anything to reveal?

Hi,

I do apologize for the lack of updates from our sides, it's completely my fault. I've just been incredibly busy with the new version that it's been consuming all my time. I tried to write a blog post about it a while back but it's not an excuse for the lack of updates: http://www.followsteph.com/2015/07/28/yes-im-still-alive-and-well/

That being said I will definitely send out an email newsletter this month and re-start to blog. The release of the next major version is taking longer than expected but we're definitely seeing a lot of progress.

And yes there is a LOT to reveal, the next version is going to be our biggest update yet !! Just a few quick bullet points, and please keep in mind that this is still unofficial and is subject to change, we're working on completely revamping the reporting section. We're going to significantly enhance it's capabilities, allowing you to template the reports with a built-in word processor, not to mention the ability to select which data items you want displayed. I can't even say columns because it will be up to you if you want to use a table or not. We're also working on a web based Cloud Edition. The new version is going to have the ability to generate documents based on templates, such as generating leases for specific tenants based on your lease template. There's a lot of new stuff coming!! I will do my best to try and start sharing it as soon as possible.

Hi Stephane,
sounds good. Can you reveal a time for this to happen?
Stephane Grenier | email Oct 13 2016, 03:08 PM
Hi Chris,

I assume you mean for the new version? Assuming so we currently have no official release date, all I can say is that we're very actively working on it and will release it as soon as possible. It's been my experience that any estimate I provide will be off because there are so many unexpected complexities with software development that it's best to avoid trying to predict one. Unlike a renovation software efforts are many many times more complex because a lot of the time you're developing new technologies for the first time.

One of my favorite stories about software estimating is the story of trying to estimate how long it would take to walk from San Francisco to LA. It seems like a simple estimate until you actually start walking and realize truly how difficult it is to estimate even something as simple as a walk. The story can be found here: http://www.michaelrwolfe.com/2013/10/19/50/

Hi Chris,

I will admit I'm struggling to publish updates on our progress because this is our busy season. During the new year all the way to the end of tax season we experience a surge throughout our business, and it's definitely keeping extremely busy.

That being said I did publish an updated newsletter November 17th which you can read online at: http://archive.aweber.com/llmaxnewletter/BeXC8 It's now a bit outdated, and I did say in the newsletter I would try to stay more updated, but it's not been possible this peak season. In any case hopefully the newsletter will give you some more details that you're looking for. There's definitely a lot coming, and we're working as fast as possible, but until tax season comes to and end I suspect I won't be able to publish many newsletter. I'm hoping to get one out soon but it takes me the better part of a day to write them and I just can't find the time...

Let me know if you've already read that newsletter.

Hi Stephan,
it has been very quiet for a long time now.
Any news on the developments you mentioned above?
Chris

Hi Chris,

Thank you for inquiring. Yes it's been quiet, and that's because I've been extremely busy to promote the new Cloud Edition that's coming out. It should be coming out very soon!!

In addition to being web and cloud based it's going to contain a lot of new features. The biggest one is report customization. This is officially going to be available in the next major release. You can make your own custom reports within certain limitations of course. And you will also be able to edit all the reports post generation, that is add any comments, etc. directly in the generated reports before you send them, print them, etc. And of course there will be a lot of little new features such as filtering on every single column on every table and so on (in essence search).

That being said we're going to start with a private release by invite only and then roll it out to the public after we've had the chance to transition all existing customers who are interested to the Cloud Edition. That process which we expect to take at least 1-3 months will determine how we proceed with the software and it's other releases. Just so you know I believe you're already on the initial list of invites.

I wish I could say more than that right now but that's all I can say at this time. It is definitely coming very soon. The quiet is not a lack of things happening it's actually the exact opposite, I'm just too busy with the release to promote the new version.

Thank you for inquiring, it's really appreciated.
