Problems importing from Quicken

Hi, I have Quicken 2014 and I HATE it - just bought Landlord Max and understand I can import my data from Quicken. Unfortunally, when I try I get an error saying that "QIF has an invalid amount - Amount: Cash". I have no idea how to fix this. I have validated my file, I have opened it in note pad (and everything looks good). Any idea what I am doing wrong? I hate to have to re enter several years of rent payments.

Hi Cindy,

When you say you've validated the QIF file can you please expand on what you mean by this? Does this mean you did a visual inspection? Please note that opening in Notepad does not mean it's a valid QIF file, this is a completely different thing.

That being said can you please send us the copy of your QIF file through our support system so that we can investigate exactly what the issue is. I will respond accordingly also on your support ticket.

Hi,

Just to follow-up for anyone reading this afterwards wondering the outcome, the issue was due to an invalid QIF file.

For example the QIF file had words where it should've been an amount. To be more specific, according to the specs here:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quicken_Interchange_Format

any line that starts with a T should be: "Amount of the item. For payments, a leading minus sign is required. For deposits, either no sign or a leading plus sign is accepted. Do not include currency symbols ($, £, ¥, etc.). Comma separators between thousands are allowed.".

In the QIF file, instead of something like T1234.50 we had things like TCash which is an invalid value for a line starting with a T. I cannot go into more details due to privacy concerns.

In any case the issue is that it was an invalid QIF file and NOT with LandlordMax.
