Direct Database Access

Is there a way to directly access the derby database to allow the user to design custom imports/exports, mass updates, etc?

Hi Bill,

No, the database is password protected and encrypted. This is done for a number of reasons in addition to protecting our intellectual property such as the protection of your database. If we didn't lock down the database then password protecting the software would be useless.

That being said you will be happy to head, and please note that this is still unofficial, but these we are actively working on adding custom reporting into the software. We're still working on the details of exactly what this means, especially for the initial release, but we are definitely planning on greatly enhancing this part of the software. To give you an idea of the scale this is the second biggest change within the software for the next major version, so it's a massive feature/functionality improvement that's coming soon.

As for mass updates, I assume you mean importing? If so then no this is currently not possible, we just found it wasn't feasible to offer this unless you had someone work with you as a service because there were too many intricacies and how specific it was to each and every case and situation (it's basically custom work). We've tried to offer this as a service but we've found that almost no one is interested in this service therefore we don't publicly list it. If you are interested please feel free to contact us and we can work with you to figure out what's possible based on what you're specifically looking.
