Jay | email Jan 16 2016, 12:06 PM
I am trying to upgrade to v11.0l from v11.0k, but get the following error message when attempting to run the download:

The signature of LLMaxSetup64.exe is corrupt.

I was thinking my license ran out, but when I try the upgrade, notes I smoke eligible.

Anyone know what is error code is?

Hi Jay,

Please note that you cannot upgrade from 11.05l to 11.05k, this is the opposite in that it's a downgrade which is not possible.

Assuming you downloaded the software from our website what most likely what's happened is that the download was corrupted, was incomplete, or was incorrectly blocked by your antivirus which in turn did something to it to corrupt it. In either case what you need to do is re-download and re-install the latest version from the website.

That being said please note that it's impossible to download version 11.05k from our website, therefore if you downloaded it from another website than it a fake and this is why it is corrupt. Not only that but if you're downloading a fake then there's no way to tell what is actually in that installer because it certainly isn't coming from us.

Hi Jay,

Unfortunately it appears I misread your in reverse. In that case fortunately the answer is still the same, in that the download was corrupted, was incomplete, or was incorrectly blocked by your antivirus which in turn did something to it to corrupt it, in which case you can just re-download and re-install the software from the website.

I read a few more items; specifically the problem was tied to IE. All my other upgrades on programs worked. So, I decided to try Google Chrome and do the download to V.11.05L.

Of course, it worked and updated to V11.05L.Thanks for putting me on the right track Stephane.

When in doubt, try another browser!

Hi Jay,

Yes unfortunately we just learned late yesterday that some users (people using the latest version of Edge or IE) such as yourself are experiencing a "Corrupted download" as a result of an update with Windows (Windows update KB3123479) which is causing all previous code signed certificates to be invalidated. Basically if you ran an update after Jan 12th, 2016 then Windows will no longer accept previous code signing certificates using the previous SHA1 standard: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3123479 Code signing certificates are required by Windows and Apple as a way of verifying vendors to protect you from bad actors. This event was unfortunately not well broadcast and as a result a large number of software companies are currently dealing with this issue. Normally you should just be able to say continue but we're finding that on some computers unfortunately Windows is blocking this as well.

As a result we've just acquired a new code signing certificate today for the new SHA2 standard and an update of the software should be available very soon, as in most likely tonight. It takes some time to process a new code signing certificate and thankfully ours is already processed.

Again we should have an update to resolve this issue very soon, most likely tonight. We're currently running tests on our latest version but as you can imagine it's a bit more time consuming than usual because in addition to testing on multiple systems, we now also have to test the same systems with and without the patches. It's basically doubling that effort.

I also sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this has caused you, and I personally apologize for our taking a few days to realize and understand this issue. This has been an extremely difficult issue to detect and even more so to determine it's cause, however now that aware there is an issue, and that we know what the issue is, we are working as fast as we can to resolve it.

Thank you for your understanding. And thank you as well for posting an update of your findings and letting others know, it's very much appreciated!!
